Onboarding Workflow

Once Recruiting hands off an approved candidate, you take over getting them ready to actually tutor. It’s a sequence every new Tutor goes through, from their initial sign-up to their first live session.

Read the flow below start to finish once, then come back to any section when you need the detail.

The Flow

The Onboarding Sequence

  1. Policies and Procedures - training modules and a short assessment.
  2. Building a Profile - bio, credentials, and background check.
  3. Curriculum Onboarding - working through the curriculum pathway and a demo teach.

  1. When a Tutor Doesn’t Continue - what to do if a candidate withdraws or you part ways.

Policies and Procedures

New Tutors are invited to the Braintrust Learning Center to complete a Policies and Procedures module suited to how they’ll be tutoring, in-person or online, finishing with a short assessment. They get two attempts to pass it.

Building a Profile

While completing training, Tutors also build out their Braintrust profile: a bio, their credentials, and a Justifacts background check. Once everything is submitted, they can keep moving through onboarding while their profile is under review.

Curriculum Onboarding

Tutors work through the curriculum pathway they’ll be teaching, Reading, Math, or both. This includes material to review on their own, followed by a live session, and then a short demo teach that Tutor Coaches review and give feedback on. Once a Tutor passes their demo teach and their profile is fully approved, they’re ready to apply to engagements.

When a Tutor Doesn’t Continue

If a candidate doesn’t make it through onboarding, whether they withdraw or you part ways, you lock and archive their profile, and let the rest of the team know so no one reaches out to them by mistake.

More will be added here as we work through the rest of the Product Hub and the School Flow doc.
