What's in a Tutor's Profile
A Tutor’s profile is organized into a few sections:
- Personal Information, the Tutor’s basic details:
- Photo, the Tutor’s profile picture.
- Name, the Tutor’s full name.
- Email, the Tutor’s contact email.
- Phone, the Tutor’s contact phone number.
- Short Biography, a brief bio the Tutor writes about themselves.
- Timezone, the Tutor’s timezone.
- ZIP Code, the Tutor’s ZIP code.
- Internal Notes, for your own notes about the Tutor, which they never see.
- Expertise, what the Tutor is qualified and interested in teaching:
- Interested Subjects, what the Tutor wants to teach.
- Approved Curriculum, separate from Interested Subjects - what they’re actually approved to teach.
- Learning Needs Expertise, like ADHD, ELL, or other learning differences. A Tutor selecting ELL needs an ELL endorsement from an accredited institution.
- Language-based Learning, which of the four supported languages, Spanish, French, Mandarin, or German, they can teach in.
- Training and Certificates - any certifications a Tutor holds, like an Orton-Gillingham reading certification, with a short description of what it covers.
- Education - degree and school. We require a bachelor’s degree and a state-issued teaching certificate; substitute certifications aren’t accepted.
- Experience - past teaching or tutoring positions, with dates, school, and position for each. We require at least one year of teaching or tutoring experience.
- Background Check - where the Tutor confirms they went to Justifacts, submitted together with the rest of the profile. See Background Checks for how you finalize that part.
